“In cardiac arrest, seconds count. The GoodSAM Network of Volunteer responders provide basic life support to those nearby in cardiac arrest while an ambulance is en route. These off-duty nurses, paramedics, doctors, police, fire and first aiders save many lives each year.”

GoodSam is a new app that aims to revolutionise the mobilisation of response to cardiac arrest and major trauma. The app is available in both Google Play and Apple App stores and when installed, allows a responder with a suitable qualification to register themselves as available to respond.
The app tracks your location 24*7 and is linked to the 999 control computer, meaning that if someone is in need of real help nearby, you can choose to be alerted any time, any place.
All of our responders are registered and accredited for use with the GoodSam app and we have received alerts of people in need of help all over the country when travelling for work, going away on holiday or visiting family. We have received alerts in Scotland, Wales, Cumbria, London, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, Devon, County Durham, Lancashire and more.
Response to an alert is completely voluntary, and if you are not in a position to attend, you can simply decline the alert, at which point the alert will pass to the next closest responder(s).
Our early adoption of GoodSam and subsequent response over recent years response via the app has allowed us to save dozens of lives over thousands of square miles – a very worthwhile achievement!
